Uttarakhand SDRF First in India to Earn ISO 9001:2015 Certification
Uttarakhand's State Disaster Response Force has become the first in the country to receive ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management certification, following a Bureau of Indian Standards audit of its training, SOPs and resource management.
Current Summary
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) of Uttarakhand has been awarded ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification, becoming the first such force in India to receive the recognition, officials said. The certification followed an audit by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) at the SDRF battalion headquarters in Jolly Grant from September 23 to 25, conducted by former BIS deputy director general Vishnu Gupta in the presence of Commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi. The audit covered administrative systems, personnel training, resource management, documentation, quality management and compliance with standard operating procedures. The certification was awarded on October 8. Officials said the recognition reflects the SDRF's systematic operational approach and will enhance its preparedness given Uttarakhand's frequent exposure to earthquakes, landslides, extreme rainfall, cloudbursts, floods, avalanches and road accidents. More than 40 SDRF teams remain on standby around the clock across the state for relief and rescue operations.
